Haraka Tours FAQs

Will I always travel with a Scholar/expert?

Our team of dedicated servants have a combined 30 years experience travelling to Iraq and attending the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Tours of all Shrines in Najaf, Karbala, Kadhimain and Samarra as well as significant religious sites like Kufa Mosque will be led by our knowledgeable scholars that will enrich your experience of ziyarah, as well as being accompanied by local experts to put your mind at ease from a safety and security perspective.

Private ziyarahs are not led by a scholar.

Who will I be travelling with?

You will travel with an international mix of like-minded zuwar with a shared passion to better connect to Imam Hussain(a) during Arbaeen.

Can I travel on my own?

Of course you can. We offer the possibility for solo Zuwar to join our trips too,

Single travellers joining group trips are offered the chance to be paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same gender for the duration of the trip.

Tip for solo travellers – you will not find a better place to create real and meaningful connections with friends from all over the world who share your passion for the ziyarah of Ahlulbayt(as), so we encourage you to get to know your brothers and sisters and by the end of the trip, we guarantee you will call them your family!

How big are the groups?

The number of zuwar vary per ziyarah

What languages are spoken on the trip?

All ziyarahs are led in English by our scholars, yet recitations could vary between English, Farsi and Arabic. Please bear in mind that ziyarahs and duas will be recited in Arabic so we encourage obtaining ziyarah/dua books (Mafatih Al Jinan) for your trip

How long is the Arbaeen Walk

The stay in Najaf is typically 2-3 days followed by an approximate 2-3 day walk and end with approximately 10 days in Karbala.

We will have designated accommodation at specific locations between Najaf and Karbala (Pole numbers TBC) allowing for zuwar to walk at their own pace but must reach the designated poles at times provided.

How much flexibility is there in the itinerary?

Owing to the limited time available, and amount of Zuwar expected to arrive in Iraq during the Arbaeen our schedule is very tight.

However, we have allowed free time where possible so that you can experience Najaf and Karbala and the beauty of the shrines in a way that’s meaningful to you.

What do I wear on Ziyarah?

Visiting Imam Hussain(as) during Arbaeen the dress code is typically black to show your respect and mourning for the Martyr of Martyrs.

For our respected sisters, a traditional ‘Abaya’ (long black dress that covers the head and body) is mandatory for entrance into any Holy Shrines. They can be provided by shrine officials if you do not have one.

Prior to your trip, we will provide you with packing tips and suggestions and information regarding the Arbaeen walk and visiting the shrines.

How can I have an impact with my trip?

Just by making the intention of visiting Imam Hussain you are immediately rewarded Thawab by Allah(swt) for Imam Hussain is the beloved of Allah.

We encourage you to leave all your worldly baggage and free yourself from the shackles and worries of this world and immerse yourself in the love and beauty of the Ahlulbayt(a).
